Tightly curled hair on a male help ?!?

I am a biracial male and my hair is very tightly curled like corkscrews. I'm told constantly that my hair has that Corbin Bleu potential look! When it's wet, it looks very loosely curled and wavy kinda and looks cool. But when it dries, the curls tighten back up ferociously and my hair becomes a frizzy mess! Sometimes the curls will tighten so tight they'll look like knots or naps, even though I comb it every other day to untangle them! Is there a way I can keep the loose wet curl look even when it's dry ? (preferrably without the use of gel) Please, forgive me as I know nothing about hair!

the only way to achieve the look you want is with products. If you don't like gel then try "Curl Life" by Matrix or "Sleek". But, with both these lines you must use the whole line shampoo, conditioner, and leave smoother. You will not get the same effect using only 1 or 2 of the products. My 2 children boy 15, girl 19 are biracial and have the same type of hair you describe. We have always solved hair dilemmas with product. Sometimes with a relaxer whether to fully straighten or just pull a little of the curl out. But, even then we always have to use good products after the relaxer.

There is this product you can get at a local drug store for somewhere around 10-15 dollars that keeps that wet looking style all day, I wish I could tell you want it's called but I can't remember..

If you sleep while your hair is wet, it gets curly, also blow drying it and combing at the same time helps. I'm a guy and my hair is a bit curly too, this helps me without using gel.

Visit a professional hair stylist and get some professional tips. You may want to go to a stylists that specializes in all types of hair.

You could try using a straightening iron to loosen the curls. Also try blow drying your hair with a comb when wet, that usually helps.

honestly thats really hard to do without gel, theres lots of products out there that arent quite gel like, or ones that could just get rid of the frizz for you.

one more expensive thing you could try but i wouldnt suggest getting hooked on unless your willing to spend the money, is a curl relaxation. you can get it done at a salon and it can either completely straighten your hair, or probably just loosen the curls for you.

if none of the things youve been trying seems to help you could ask someone at your local salon if they have any tricks to help you out.

hope this helped!

No, gel would be the only way to keep that wet look. If you want to tame the frizz and not have the wet look you could get Frizz-Ezz. (not possitive on spelling) Or just go to the drug store and look for anything that controls frizz. If you want to keep the wet look they make gels specifically to have that look. Again, you'll have to look around the drug store or just ask a girl there for help.

The only other alternative that I can think of is a wave kit for men.
