How could you find out what charge is on a comb after you comb your hair? Design a test and carry it out.
What is the charge? Explain how you obtained your results and why you are certain of the charge.
Static electricity experiment?
Rub your comb with your sweater or run it through your hair a bunch of times. This builds up a charge on the comb as it picks up extra electrons from your hair or sweater. Now place the comb near running water and watch the water bend towards the comb. This is because the comb has a charge and the water has a dipole. It is very electronegative and thus wants the extra electrons that are lying about on the comb. So it bends toward the comb as they exchange electrons.
So this all proves that the comb is negatively charged (extra batch of electrons on it)
