I have awful well water, it's full of iron. We don't drink it at all,not even our dogs drink it! But we shower with it. My daughters and I have very thick hair. We have lived here for a little over a year. The last 6 months I can bearly comb my own hair out let alone my girls's hair. We use good shampoo and conditioner. My hair use to be my glory, shinny and flowing. Now it is a dull rats nest! I can't aford to take all of us to the salon every few months. Anyone know any at home treatments? Thank you

put half a beer into ur bottle of shampoo... mix it well and wash with that...repeat then wash with regular shampoo and conditioner! also hot oil treatments just need to be put into some warm water and are very inexpensive bout $1 a piece! use those. also if u put mayo in ur hair n put it in a pony tail then a shower cap over it. leave it for about 20 mins n ur hair will get warm this is kinda like a hot oil treatment i guess then just wash normally! good luck!

water softener with an iron filter would be best. Malibu 2000 makes Crystal gel treatment. See if you can find a salon that would see them to you. After use, always rinse and wash your hair bent over (that way most of the damage is at the nape of the neck instead of on top). But, mostly, I recommend the water softener with the iron filter.

At sallybeauty.com you can find this keratien protien treatment by Ion and it will make your hait crazy soft (I've gone through four chemical processes and you wouldn't be able to tell) Another good thing to do b/c your hair is probably discolored for the iron is to mix baking soda with your shampoo and it will brighten your hair the same way in works in the wash. Another suggestion, if your hair still looks dull get shine serum and fake healthy hair.

After shampooing your hair and rinse it, put an olive oil on your head and cover it with shower cap for half an hour. Then rinse off and put leave in conditioner.
