What is the best comb or brush to use on very curly hair?

My daughter has very curly that tends to get very tangled and unmanageable. I'm a single dad and trying so hard to do this right and frankly tired of being berated by her "perfect" mother. Any tricks for keeping the hair untangled and what type of comb works the best - please be specific. thank you!!!!!!!!

Start by using a conditioner every time she shampoos. I don't know how old your daughter is, but Suave makes ones for kids, or the adult ones work, too. Use a fat, wide-toothed pick to come it. Start at the ends and get all the tangles out of the ends first, then work your way up to the roots. If you come across some tough spots, use a detangling spray (also made by Suave) on that area. Once you've got it combed, use a bit of hair gel (Suave makes some esp. for curly hair). This will keep away the frizzies and also make it a little heavier and less likely to tangle. Put in a head band or something to keep it out of her face. I bet she's a doll with all those curls. I think natural curl is darling on little ones.
