Is It Normal To Lose Hair After A Shower?

When I get out of the shower I towel dry my hair a little (just enough so it stops dripping). Then right after that I comb though my hair until it's straight and I get all the messy curls out from towel drying it.

But when I run the comb through my hair I pull out a lot of hair. Is this normal?

I'm 15 and have hair down to about the bottom of my nose infront and straighten it every day.

My dad is bald at 45 and so are most of the guys on that side of the family. My mom has all her hair, and so does my grandpa and most of the men on that side of the family. The only one who is losing any of hair is my uncle who's in his mid 50's and is losing a little bit of hair in the front.

NORMAL HAIR ;LOSS:

It is entirely normal to lose hair on a daily basis. On average, people lose fifty to one hundred hairs every day, and this is considered normal hair loss and is not any sort of problem. If you brush or wash your hair excessively, the amount of hair lost will rise. This is also normal.

We go through phases of hair growth, and about ninety percent of our hair is growing at any given moment. This growing phase lasts anywhere from two to six years. The remaining ten percent of hair on the scalp is in the resting phase, which is a phase that last about two or three months. Once this phase is completed, the hair sheds to make room for new hair.

Experiencing hair loss to a significantly higher degree is often considered a hair loss problem that can be caused by a number of different reasons. Causes for excessive hair loss include genetics, hormones, physical conditions, emotional conditions, diet, and medications.

If you are experiencing hair loss more than what is considered to be normal, it is important to get a professional opinion.

BALDNESS:

It was previously believed that baldness was inherited from a person's maternal grandfather. While there is some basis for this belief, both parents contribute to their offspring's likelihood of hair loss. Most likely, inheritance is technically "autosomal dominant with mixed penetrance" [citation needed](see 'baldness folklore' below)

There are several other kinds of baldness:

Traction alopecia is most commonly found in people with ponytails or cornrows who pull on their hair with excessive force. Wearing a hat shouldn't generally cause this, though it is a good idea to let your scalp breathe for 7 hours a day[citation needed].

Traumas such as chemotherapy, childbirth, major surgery, poisoning, and severe stress may cause a hair loss condition known as telogen effluvium.[2]

Some mycotic infections can cause massive hair loss.[3]

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disorder also known as "spot baldness" that can result in hair loss ranging from just one location (Alopecia areata monolocularis) to every hair on the entire body (Alopecia areata universalis).

Localized or diffuse hair loss may also occurs in cicatricial alopecia (lupus erythematosus, lichen plano pilaris, folliculitis decalvans, central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia, postmenopausal frontal fibrosing alopecia, etc.). Tumours and skin outgrowths also induce localized baldness (sebaceous nevus, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma).

Hypothyroidism can cause hair loss, especially thinning of the outer third of the eyebrows

Is It Normal To Lose Hair After A Shower?

yes it is TOTALLY normal to lose hair after a shower. Even in the shower. Or even before a shower. looool

You lose at least 100 strands of hair a day (yea yea yea.. i read too many health and beauty magazines) haha....!

I would ease down on the straightening though. You're damaging your hair, and maybe that's why you're losing a bit more hair than you want to? Try buying a really good deep conditioner......like a company from biolace or redken. or bed head.... %26lt;3. uhmm...also maybe buy a hair serum. That way when you straighten your hair, it would burn the hair, but it will burn "the serum". ^_^

hmm.. if you have any more questions. Feel free to e-mail me. I'm 15 also! and.. uhh.. i'm a girl. =D

GOOD LUCK!

Mine does that.

Is It Normal To Lose Hair After A Shower?

Male baldness comes from the women's side of the family not from your father. So check with her mother your Granny.

Is It Normal To Lose Hair After A Shower?

Yes everyone loses hair from the shower. From the shampoo and scrubing. Don't worry everyone does that :).

Is It Normal To Lose Hair After A Shower?

Yeah its normal also depending on your hair strength, like mine is very thin, all the time after a shower some of my hair comes off, but hey if u can't notice it then don't worry about it;) lol

Is It Normal To Lose Hair After A Shower?

Yes it is natural to loose hair in the shower. Normally you loose up to 100 hairs a day. Every thirty days or so you will loose a little bit more do to the hair growing in. ( A new hair will push the old hair follicle out.)

As far as gene's and hair loss go it the men on you mothers side of the family you need to look at. The bald gene comes through the mother side.

So look at your Uncles on her side to find out the answer to your question.

It does skip a generation every now and then.

Hope this helps.
